About the Exhibition

William Branton begins his designs with personal hand drawings, which are then digitalised creating the final artwork. Utilising grids and working to a set of rules, he keeps  the richness of the hand-drawn expressive feel, while retaining clean sharp lines. The designs mainly focus on bright blocks of colour with over-lapping effects and consist of mainly two or three hues.

The intricate designs are bold, geometric and colourful, and are applied to high quality products that are manufactured in England. The objective of the prints and textiles is to excite and enhance people’s lives with their vibrant qualities.

About William Branton

William grew up in the Kent seaside town of Ramsgate. He went on to take a Nation Diploma in Graphic Design at Canterbury College, before studying Graphic and Media Design at the London College of Communication. He is now a freelancer, working on projects for a variety of clients including: Ogilvy & Mather NY, IBM, US Tennis Open, Ohh Deer, BFI, Topshop, Urban-Outfitters and Paperchase.

During his time at LCC he found himself combining designs with various projects, and moved towards print textiles and surface design. Starting out designing mainly for self-initiated projects, he began posting work on Adobe’s Behance portfolio platform, which was then showcased on the homepage. The design community’s response was a great motivation, which then lead on to work being featured in Computer Arts, British Vogue, and other books and publications.

He licensed artwork for products to a number of companies, including artists collective Ohh Deer, during his time at LCC. He is now turning his hand towards making his own home and interior range of products: selling soft furnishing and fashion accessories alongside his graphics work. William is now based between London and Kent; he has a particular interest in typography, branding, print and pattern design.

Event Dates:

Dreamspace gallery hosted a private view reception on 3rd September from 6-9pm.

The regular exhibition open Monday to Friday 9am to 5.30pm, and Sat 26th/Sun 27th September during London Design Festival.
