A unique design practice with a spirit of discovery and invention at its heart, who work across various creative disciplines including architecture and design, are seeking a Contracts Manager to join their talented and diverse team.

You will work with the Head of Business Development & Contracts to negotiate and coordinator contractual terms and conditions and appointment documents with clients.

Key Responsibilities of the Contracts Manager –

  • Negotiate and coordinate sub-consultants’ appointments
  • Work with the Head of Business Development & Contracts to negotiate fees for new projects, using general research and project budgets to inform fee levels and the fee negotiation process
  • Work with Head of Business Development & Contracts, Group leaders, Project leaders, in all aspects of project set up analysis: scope, programme, team composition etc
  • Identify detailed scope statement to meet Client requirements/aspirations in conjunction with Group Leaders and Project Leaders
  • Prepare arguments for clients for additional services/fees
  • Work with Group Leaders and Project Leaders to monitor and evaluate a project’s development ensuring it is meeting contractual terms
  • Oversee financial expenditure on individual projects and propose remedial action
  • Work with the Head of Business Development & Contracts, Group Leaders and Project Leaders to develop an effective roles and responsibilities framework to integrate project objectives and activities, and facilitate communication between the internal and external organisations and stakeholders involved in the projects
  • Assist with contractual disputes and potential claims and liaise with external professional advisers
  • Work effectively with all members of the Business Development & Contracts Domain to help nurture an efficient and mutually supportive working environment

Key Skills of the Contacts Manager –

  • At least five years proven professional experience in contract negotiations and management
  • Understanding of the legal conditions that apply to a creative design studio
  • Demonstrable experience of negotiating contracts in the UK and internationally
  • Proven experience of managing project budgets
  • Experience of working with professional advisers
  • Self-discipline and confidence in a complex and fast paced environment

You will be methodical, with high attention to detail and skilled in communications and negotiations, with excellent inter-personal skills. You will have strong ability to work as part of a team with a proactive and flexible approach. Training is provided to increase technical skills and to address identified professional development needs.
